Movement beyond two km of home not allowed for Mumbaikars; police vow strict action against

In a bid to stem coronavirus spread, the Mumbai Police on Sunday urged the city residents not to travel beyond the two-km radius of their residence. A senior police official clarified that movement beyond two km radius is allowed only in the case of attending office or medical emergencies.

The Mumbai Police further urged residents to follow the social distancing norms.

"While moving outdoors, wearing of face mask is compulsory and if people are going to visit markets, salons, barbershops, it shall be restricted to within a radius of two km from residence," said the official.

He added that outdoor movement for the purpose of the exercise is strictly limited to open spaces within 2 km from the place of residence.

"Movement beyond two km is permitted only for attending office or medical emergencies," the official added.

Notably, the Maharashtra government has allowed many activities under its 'Mission Begin Again'. However, the threat of coronavirus still persists, said the official.

"It is absolutely necessary that we all follow the norms of personal safety and social distancing. Many people in the city have been found violating these norms, thereby endangering their own health as well as that of others in their vicinity," he said.
